Certified Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is a professional practice that emphasizes personalized, one-on-one therapeutic care. A yoga therapist uses a sensitive approach that is rooted in deep respect for the intelligence of the body-mind connection and the human capacity for inner witnesses and guides the clients through life experiences such as: grief, injuries, pain, disease, trauma. Yoga therapy embraces the scientific and philosophical application of yoga into our everyday life brings the whole being - body, breath, mind, wisdom, and spirit - into harmony, improving overall health. Whether you are able-bodied or disabled, whether you are in a wheelchair or crutches or have a complex medical condition, yoga therapy is for you! Its individualized approach allows you to participate at your own speed and within your strengths and limitations.

In order for qualify as a yoga therapist the therapist is required to do a minimum of 1000 hours (min. 2 years) in a professional program. This thorough training provides the therapist with the skills necessary to work efficiently and compassionately with a wide range of life challenges. 

After an in depth assessment, therapists (in partnership with clients) create manageable goals to develop and teach the clients personal practices that they can do on their own time. Therapists choose yoga practices which may include active listening, journaling, meditation, breathing, postures and lifestyle skills based on how they will specifically benefit individual clients. 

A standard one-on-one yoga therapy session may include:  

  • Discussing medical history and evaluation of physical, mental, energetic, and spiritual bodies. Assessing breathing, posture, gait, and mobility issues.

  • Creating objectives that best support the healing process and the goals of the client.

  • Choosing and practicing specific physical poses and other practices and adapting them to meet the client’s needs.

  • Defining FUNwork for home practice.

    Semi-private sessions (with two or three people) also available

These packages, below, are meant for individuals looking for a personalized approach to their yoga practice. Participants will be coached to learn how to safely and effectively practice yoga for home or community use based on their own body and mental health needs. This package can be for one or multiple participants.  Participants may have impairments, disabilities or mental health conditions that require adaptations and/or modifications to their yoga practice.  Please contact our clinic for more information.

Choose the package which best suits you:

Option 1 includes:

  • One 30-minute individual assessment to go over health questionnaire and create dialogue for personal targets.

  • One 90-minute Yoga Therapy private session (only one participant at a time even if group session requested), to allow yoga therapist to personalize the practice in alignment with the participants needs and address other topics as appropriate.

  • 6 weekly private yoga therapy sessions of 60 minutes (individually, as a couple or group depending on request)

  • Follow-up documents to support sessions as appropriate.

  • Receipts for the 60 or 90-minute yoga therapy private sessions that may be covered by private insurance under a certified naturotherapy. Receipts may only be given for individual sessions not for couples or group sessions.

  • Cost: $ 330/person and $180/additional persons in the group.

Option 2 includes:

  • One 30-minute individual assessment to go over health questionnaire and create dialogue for personal targets.

  • One 90-minute Yoga Therapy private session (only one participant at a time even if group session requested), to allow yoga therapist to personalize the practice in alignment with the participants needs and address other topics as appropriate.

  • 6 weekly private yoga therapy sessions of 60 minutes (individually, as a couple or group depending on request)

  • 6 weekly meet-up sessions to address different topics of health and well-being such as sleep hygiene or getting started in the morning, nutrition, etc.

  • Follow-up documents and videos to support sessions.

  • Receipts for the 60 or 90-minute yoga therapy private sessions that may be covered by private insurance under a certified naturotherapy. Receipts may only be given for individual sessions not for couples or group sessions.

  • Cost: $ 480/person and $330/additional persons in the group.
