Maryam Khaleqi-Sohi has been practicing as a physiotherapist since 2011, with experience across neurological, orthopedic, and oncology rehabilitation. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Physiotherapy and is currently pursuing a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Ottawa, where her research focuses on improving rehabilitation service delivery and provision following stroke.

Before moving to Ottawa in 2023, Maryam spent eight years working as a physiotherapist at MAHAK Cancer Treatment and Research Center, where she worked with individuals with complex neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation needs as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This experience shaped her thoughtful and individualized approach to rehabilitation, particularly when supporting clients with complex recovery needs.

Maryam has a particular interest in therapeutic exercise, gait and mobility training, balance training, functional recovery, and manual therapy. She enjoys working collaboratively with her clients to understand what matters most to them and to develop rehabilitation plans that are meaningful, practical, and tailored to their goals. For Maryam, one of the most rewarding aspects of physiotherapy is seeing clients regain confidence in their movement and return to the activities that are important to their everyday lives.

Outside of work and research, Maryam enjoys travelling, hiking, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends.
